Daycare/Boarding Dogs

I adore this photo I took of Roxie today. Funny story about this dog, actually. Two summers ago I worked for Denise Herman; she is an AWESOME dog trainer and I assisted her in dog training classes and private consultations. It's safe to say she's one of my heroes. A couple of weeks ago, Rob asked me if I could drop Roxie off at her house on my way home (back when I was still driving to Greenpoint). I took Roxie home. As I was fumbling with the keys to her apartment door (I have serious issues with opening doors) her mom happened to be home and opened the door. I said hi and let Roxie in and suddenly had the STRONGEST feeling of deja vu - as if I KNEW I had been in this apartment before but just was not sure of when. Then it came screaming back to me: one of the consults that I went on with Denise was to visit an extremely shy and timid little black-lab mix named Roxie. During the session Denise talked to Roxie's mom about what she should be exposing Roxie to and I practiced hand-targeting and the self-pet technique with Roxie. This little puppy who was so terrified to go anywhere near me only two summers ago is now a stunning ladydog who is quite self-confident and very wonderfully socialized since then. Small world!
Tucker and Moses. I've been thinking ever since I met Tucker what the other half was. Clearly he's half Shepherd.I could see that with a blindfold over my shepherd-loving eyes. But WHAT is the other half? I asked Jay and he thought some type of hound. It makes sense I guess!
Tucker shows more teeth during play than most dogs but the fact that he is SO incredibly gentle all of the time takes away all the worry :)

Rescues

Piper, one of our Westie rescues had her debut in the runs today! The other two pups are not yet ready to join the runs but piper had a full day of socialization today. I'm so giddy for when ALL our rescues will be up to date with vaccines, spayed/neutered, dewormed and ready for playtime. :)
Alfie up-top! Alfie has grown into a great puppy from the infant he was. He now totally stands up for himself against even huge dogs! We're so excited for Alfie to get placed in his new home.

Rescue Photos

I did things a bit backwards this time. So after looking at these fantastic rescue photos you can go back in history one post and look at the daycare photos from Friday :)
Kiki grooms Rascal. It's too cute.
She proceeded to do this for quite a while. Sometimes I wonder if our rescues know each other "better" than the other dogs. So...does Kiki know that Rascal also "lives" here and vice-versa? Thoughts are interesting in my head.
Kiki really loves to be held like that. She falls asleep that way, too.
Upside-down dog is clearly upside-down.
Alfie after his bath! I has a clean!

As I sit in my living room watching the Wigan vs. Manchester United game I reminisce about how wonderful the World Cup was this past summer. I didn't miss a single game because it was being played constantly at Unleash Brooklyn. For the final game, however, I attended my cousin's wedding at which many a Russian man held in his hand simultaneously some sort of vodka beverage and an iphone over which he was watching the final game. My father happened to be one of those men and so we got to watch the end of the final game...Viva Espana!

My Dad: For Manchester United...this week is just going to be death...this poor, poor team...

Now why am I blabbering about the world cup when I should be posting photos of dogs? Well...because yesterday one of my favorite dogs who would come during the summer came back to board!
Sasha!!! This dog is so much fun. He loves life and running around and snuggling and everything wonderful in existence. When I sat and snuggled with dogs while watching the world cup during the summer, Sasha was always my right-hand man. Always watching right along with me like a true companion. Therefore I told Sasha that in 2014 he will be sipping cocktails on the flight to Brazil with me to see the world cup then!
I love the spots on his tongue! They're really really funny.
Who, you may ask, is that handsome Shepherd sitting in the middle of the run, seemingly lost in his brain and questioning where is he and why he is there? That's my dog Rem. That's not the typical expression on his face. He just really REALLY hates the camera flash. He actually looks like this:
Running full-speed ahead to try to get a ball of some sort. Note: he is almost ten years old!
Back to Daycare dogs...
I'm not too sure as to what Kiddo is doing in this photo. I think he was playing with the other two poodles (Luc and Lola) and this photo was a failed attempt to capture Kiddo in a playbow. Womp womp.
That's Luc in the middle and Lola behind Luc. Luc is very obviously a go-go-go IMADOGHI and Lola is very cat-like in personality. Very gentle lady.
